The British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand in 1971 was very special not just because the squad was full of some of the greatest rugby players ever to have been produced form these islands but also because it is the only time a Lions team have been unbeaten on a tour of New Zealand.

In 2017 the Lions toured New Zealand again and we witnessed one of the most exciting tours of three Tests for years with the Lions coming away with a drawn series.

We wanted to organise an event that celebrated the achievements of the tours of 71 and 17 and bring together two legends of the game, Lions captains – Willie John McBride and Sam Warburton. We created a distinctive logo for the event, filled the room with 300 rugby fans for a black tie dinner and engaged support from sponsors including Sky, Berry Bros & Rudd and The Lygon Arms. Our charity auction was conducted by Charlie Ross and the event was hosted by John Taylor, a veteran of the 71 tour and former voice of ITV rugby.
